As part of the Potato Days in Dyson Farm, Lincoln, a comparative trial was conducted by Bionature UK Ltd. to evaluate the efficacy of the Ecoculture foliar fertilization programme on potato crops (variety DAISY) versus Dyson’s standard programme.

Trial Design

  • Dyson Control Plot:
    Initial Fertilization:

    • 28 kg/ha nitrogen + 80 kg/ha phosphorus pentoxide.
    • Nuram: 50 kg/ha nitrogen.
    • Standard late blight control applications with foliar magnesium in the first two.
    • Drip irrigation.
  • Ecoculture Plot:
Dyson’s standard programme + Ecoculture programme:

    • Leodita: 2.5 L/ha at planting.
    • NHDeltaCa: 6 applications at 2.5 L/ha.
    • 1 for All: 6 applications at 1 L/ha.
    • XStress: 4 applications at 1 L/ha.
    • CalFlux: 4 applications at 1 L/ha.

Key Results

  • Yield:
    • Dyson: 35.6 t/ha.
    • Ecoculture: 48.3 t/ha (+26%).
  • Marketable Yield:
    • Increased by 32%.
  • Waste Reduction:
    • Decreased by 57%.
    • Tubers <45 mm dropped from 10.4% (control) to 3.6% (treated).
  • Nitrogen Use Efficiency:
    • Dyson: 78 kg N/ha → 42 t/ha (1.8 kg N/ton).
    • Ecoculture: 80.8 kg N/ha → 54 t/ha (1.5 kg N/ton).
    • Improved nitrogen efficiency by 20%.

Conclusion
The Ecoculture programme not only increased overall yield by 26% but also reduced waste, boosted marketable yield, and enhanced nitrogen use efficiency, minimizing its environmental impact.
