At Ecoculture, we work every day to help farmers overcome one of modern agriculture’s greatest challenges: vascular diseases caused by fungi, bacteria, and viruses. These pathogens directly affect the tissues responsible for internal transport of water, nutrients, and sugars, compromising growth, yield, and, in severe cases, plant survival.

How xylem and phloem work

The vascular system consists of two main tissues:

Xylem

  • Transports water and minerals from the roots to the leaves.

  • It is the primary target of fungi like Fusarium and Verticillium, which block its vessels, causing wilting and vascular collapse.

Phloem

  • Distributes sugars and compounds produced in the leaves to the rest of the plant (roots, fruits, and shoots).

  • Especially vulnerable to viruses, bacteria, and phytoplasmas, which spread rapidly through it.

When a pathogen invades either tissue, transport is disrupted. The plant experiences stress, generates high levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS), and activates emergency responses that, if not properly managed, can lead to tissue death.

How vascular pathogens enter

Fungi, bacteria, and viruses do not penetrate on their own. They need entry points, which can result from:

  • Water stress, salinity, or compacted soils causing microcracks in roots.

  • Damage from nematodes and soil insects that pierce root tissue.

  • Agricultural operations such as transplanting, root pruning, or aggressive applications.

  • Other soil-borne diseases that weaken roots.

These wounds become direct access points for vascular pathogens, which quickly colonize the transport system.

Symptoms of vascular diseases

Affected plants may show:

  • Wilting of leaves and stems

  • Dark discoloration in roots or stems

  • Progressive yellowing

  • Reduced growth

  • General weakening

  • Lower flowering and fruit set

The plant attempts to defend itself, but generates strong internal oxidation, calcium loss, elevated ethylene production, and blockages in the transport of sugars, amino acids, and nutrients.

Ecoculture’s integrated strategy

To address this challenge, Ecoculture has developed a management solution based on plant physiology and high-tech products. The approach relies on three key, complementary steps:

1. NHDelta — Root regeneration and wound sealing

NHDelta is the starting point of the strategy. Its main functions:

  • Stimulates new root growth through amide-form nitrogen (NH₂), essential for protein and cytokinin synthesis.

  • Supports regeneration of damaged tissues and wound sealing, reducing entry points for pathogens like Fusarium.

  • Promotes moderate acidification of the rhizosphere, less favorable for soil fungi.

  • Increases root hair density, enhancing water and nutrient uptake.

As a result, plants develop a healthier, more resilient, and productive root system.

2. XStress — Defense activation and oxidative damage reduction

XStress is a foliar formulation designed to support plants under biotic and abiotic stress:

  • Provides essential microelements complexed with glycine for more efficient absorption.

  • Activates production of natural antioxidants: jasmonates, salicylates, glutathione, among others.

  • Reduces ROS generation, ethylene, and oxidation in vascular tissue.

  • Maintains photosynthesis and the transport of sugars and amino acids through the phloem.

While XStress does not directly target pathogens, it strengthens the plant immune system and helps restore physiological balance.

3. Dentamet — Rapid systemic action through xylem

Dentamet completes the strategy as a shock tool:

  • Patented zinc and copper formulation complexed with a citrate-derived molecule.

  • Highly systemic, moving through the xylem in less than two hours.

  • Creates an unfavorable environment for vascular fungi and bacteria.

  • Activates internal immune defenses and reaches areas far from the primary infection site.

  • Works synergistically with XStress, halting pathogen progression while the plant regains functionality.

Independent trials show up to 70% reduction in vascular disease incidence compared to conventional treatments.

Field results

Farmers using this strategy report:

  • More vigorous plants

  • Greater stress tolerance

  • Drastic reduction in vascular disease symptoms

  • Measurable increases in biomass, fruit set, and yield

  • Longer plantation longevity

  • Replicable results year after year due to its effectiveness

Conclusion

Plant physiology shows that the best defense starts from within.
The combination of NHDelta, XStress, and Dentamet provides a comprehensive solution to strengthen roots, activate defenses, and stop the progression of vascular diseases.

At Ecoculture, we are committed to developing scientific tools that promote more resilient, sustainable, and productive agriculture.
